Hi, I’m Kyokugen. Today I want to talk about Japanese suburbs.
At first, I want to show you this picture.
What do you feel like about this picture? This is a typical suburban area in Japan. I hate this because we can see this scenery everywhere. There is no history. I think Japanese suburbs aren’t distinctive except for a few famous cities such as Kyoto. But, I must live near this area for family reasons.
So, typical Japanese parents let children live near themselves. My parent is not an exception. I can’t leave my suburban area. I am always struggling with this matter.

Yes, this kind of area of Japanese suburbs is pretty dull! But maybe it's the same all over the world. Suburbs in the UK usually look nicer, but they're also pretty dull!
